An Evening with Adjoa Andoh in Celebration of the 400th Anniversary of Shakespeare’s First Folio | 3 June 2025
A Hobart Repertory Theatre Society fundraising event
Adjoa Andoh live – One night only – limited seats.
Whilst she’s holidaying in Tasmania, we are delighted to be hosting Shakespearean actor/director Adjoa Andoh. Adjoa will be giving a selection of her favourite readings from Shakespeare’s plays.
Adjoa is maybe best known for her role as Lady Danbury in the Netflix Regency romance series Bridgerton but her connections to Shakespeare have been lifelong, playing lead roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company and conceiving, co-directing and starring in the first all women of colour Shakespeare production on a UK stage with her critically acclaimed Richard II at the Globe Theatre, followed by her groundbreaking Richard III at Liverpool Playhouse and The Rose Theatre. Adjoa is an Honorary Fellow of the British Shakespeare Association, an honorary fellow of the Shakespeare Association of America, an Emeritus Fellow of St. Catherine’s College, Oxford and an honorary fellow of the Royal Society of Literature.
This extra special event is being presented by the Hobart Repertory Theatre Society as a fundraiser to support the relocation of The Playhouse wardrobe.
We invite you to join Adjoa at The Playhouse Theatre to celebrate Shakespeare and hear her take on what makes the Bard relevant to our world today.
