Famous detective Hercule Poirot, now more interested in marrows than mayhem, is tempted out of retirement to solve the murder of wealthy widower, Roger Ackroyd. With a touch of blackmail and supposed suicide thrown in, how could he resist!

The phenomenal success of this novel in 1926 made Agatha Christie a household name and established her as the most prolific and popular author of the murder mystery genre in the 20th century. With its seemingly unpredictable and game-changing revelation of the murderer,  The Playhouse are proud to present this intriguing adaptation, never performed in Australia, and are delighted that the role of Hercule Poirot will be reprised by local Tasmanian actor Ian McQueen.

Adapted by Philip Grecian from Agatha Christie Novel
